PRACTICAL INFORMATION

As a country located along the equator, the average daily temperature is 24 degrees centigrade and the climate is generally humid.
The dry seasons last from June to September, the rainy seasons begin in October and in May with a short dry season in January – February.

All our itineraries begin in Rwanda as the entry point, since the drive from Kigali international airport to DRC border (Goma) is shorter than flying into Kinshasa, and then connecting to another flight to Goma, which is tiresome.
Pick up can also be done also from any Ugandan border post, like Bunagana.

When you are packing, please do not forget to bring a windbreaker or a light raincoat. When tracking for gorillas you will be in a rain forest, so the chance to get wet is big.
It is also advised to use hiking boots. A light sweater with long sleeves and trousers for the evenings are also recommended as it will help to keep the mosquitoes away.
A torch should be recommended for every adventure destination and DRC is no exception.
The Voltage is 220v – 2 pin hole sockets are available in most of the hotels / lodges.
It is not advisable to drink water from the taps. You will be able to get bottled water wherever you go.
One should also remember to bring water during the tracks.

Yellow fever vaccine is recommended for peoples traveling to DRC.
We strongly suggest that you see your doctor about malaria precautions.

No visa will  be issued at any border controls, a valid passport is required to enter DRC. A passport must be valid for at least 6 months.

A tourist visa is issued at any accredited DRC consulate, it grants tourists the authorization to enter the country through designated points of entry.
The tourist visa applies when you take part of Virunga national park activities which includes either tracking the rare mountain gorillas, or hiking the active strato volcano mountain Nyiragongo.

If you are not taking part of any park activity, the ordinary visa will apply. For tourist visa we usually send you a visa application form in which you have to fill in the requested information,  and send it back to us for processing.
All visa applicants are strongly advised to submit their applications and passports for visa at least 2 weeks prior to the intended dates of departure.
